We wanted everyone to know that the heat is still being worked on at Maple Grove Elementary. We will be in school tomorrow. Temperatures on Thursday and Friday are to be close to the low 70's. It's still a good idea to have a light coat or jacket on when students are sent to school. Thanks for your understanding and patience and we will see everyone tomorrow.

High School Students - The actuarial profession is well respected, highly compensated, and often considered the best job in America. Illinois State University encourages students to consider this field and the Actuarial Program at ISU. They are one of only seventeen actuarial programs in the United States designated by the Society of Actuaries as a Center of Actuarial Excellence, and they were the first Center of Actuarial Excellence in the state of Illinois. They have been a Center of Actuarial Excellence since December 2009, the very beginning of that designation. They also won the Casualty Actuarial Society in 2016 (the inaugural competition) and in 2019 (after a required three year waiting period). Illinois State University is also a Global Center of Insurance Excellence. They are located just next door to State Farm, one of the largest insurance companies in the world.  They also run a special Summer program in actuarial science for minority high school students, which you can learn more about at https://business.illinoisstate.edu/katie/outreach/minority.shtml , and a program for all high school students: https://business.illinoisstate.edu/katie/outreach/risk/ .  They had to, unfortunately, cancel the Summer programs for Summer 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but hope to be restarting in 2021.
