
Seniors can complete a SCC Scholarship Application at https://www.shawneecc.edu/financial-aid/scholarship-information. Please begin as soon as possible to allow time to collect the required documents, like recommendations. Give the teachers plenty of time before the deadline.

Maple Grove will be having a live in-person Christmas Program on, Thursday December 16 at 6:00 pm, in the Maple Grove gym. All are invited to come out and celebrate the season with us.

Lyle Womack , a Joppa alumnus, visited Ms. Hill's Consumer Education class to talk about his experience in the military, the locations he served, his degree, and his career as a law officer. The students appreciated his time to share about his experiences.

Just a reminder today is a 2:26 Dismissal, Tuesday November 23. We will be out of school for Thanksgiving Break (11/24-11/26), we will return to school on November 29. Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving.


Mrs. Rivera's class is currently exploring the Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts. Google Earth is an awesome tool that allows students to take walking tours of different areas around the world. Students are able to take amazing field trips like these without even leaving the building!

The Heisman Trophy Trust has recently announced High School Winners. From an applicant pool of thousands of high school scholar-athletes graduating with the class of 2022, more than 5,700 have been named School Winners. Joppa High School has two winners: Rachelle Cox and Joshua McGinness. To apply, seniors had to have a cumulative weighted high school grade point average of a B (3.0) or better, participate in at least one of the recognized sports, and be a leader in his/her school and community. Congratulations to Rachelle and Josh!


On Thursday, November 5th, author William (Billy) Conder visited his alma mater to talk to students about his writing process and his many successes after graduating high school. Mr. Conder is the author of "Stealing Yesterday," a story about a lost love and the tribulations that come with trying to rekindle a love that escaped through the protagonist's fingertips. Thanks to JHS' own Ms. Beth, students were able to ask questions to a local author and feel inspired to work toward publishing their own writing.
