Please be advised that the school district will implement a new E-Learning Plan for the 2025-26 school year to continue learning opportunities on emergency days when school is not in session. This plan allows the District to count "E-Learning" as regular attendance days which could help shorten the school calendar at the end of the year.
Please review the E-Learning Plan below and contact the school office or email elearning@joppa38.com if you have additional questions.
E-Learning Plan Guidelines
In the event of an emergency, distance learning will be announced via local media outlets i.e. WPSD, email, and the district emergency alert phone messaging system.
Teachers will notify either students or parents/guardians by 8:30 a.m. of all assignments to be completed that day using the following methods:
Students in grades K-5: If the possibility of an emergency day is known ahead of time, please check your child’s book bag for a folder labeled “E-Learning Packet”. Learning information for the E-Learning will be included in the folder. For additional information teachers may be contacted via email, REMIND, Class Dojo or Google Classroom.
Students in grades 6-12 must check their email and/or learning platform (Google Classroom) to locate assignments due for the day. Students with limited or no internet access will refer to their E-Learning Packet.
Student packets shall include a minimum of five clock hours of instruction or schoolwork per day per the IL school code cited above.
Student learning activities will be tied to the existing curriculum of Joppa Maple Grove District #38. Learning objectives will align with the content and skills students must master to be successful in each subject area/grade level.
Student Attendance
K-5 attendance will be counted in accordance to the completion of their e-learning packets upon returning to school. Failure to complete assignments will result in the student being counted “absent” for that e-learning/school day.
Attendance for 6-12 can be monitored by students completing e-learning assignments via Google Classroom. Mrs. Wood and/or teachers will create a Google Form for students to complete to count attendance. If students do not have access to the internet, they may complete their work via an E-learning packet. Their attendance will be counted in accordance with the completion of their e-learning packets upon returning to school.
Students will have up to 5 days to complete their e-learning day assignments.
Teacher/Staff Responsibilities
If an E-Learning day is one day only, all work will be completed remotely through either a packet or an online method. Live, face to face instruction by the teacher is not required. Teachers and support staff will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the E-Learning day (s) for student support. Students/Parents may contact the teacher via the communication tool preferred by the teacher and s/he will be available to parents/students during that time.
Students with disabilities will be given assignments based on their individualized learning plans. Students who receive Speech, OT, PT, or other one-on-one services MAY be provided said services when the student returns to school. Any issues with meeting the students individual needs will be communicated immediately upon their return to school to parents and members of the IEP team.
