Child Find Screenings

Pre-School and Kindergarten Screening

Joppa Maple Grove School District will sponsor a Child Find Pre-school Developmental Screening and Kindergarten Screening the following date and time:

 Monday, April 17 from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Screening will be held at the Maple Grove Elementary School Library.  Pre-school children ages 3 to 5 years old that reside in the Joppa Maple Grove School District need to be screened.

In addition, Kindergarten screening will be held for those children who will be entering Kindergarten at Maple Grove School for the 2023-24 year.  Illinois state law requires this screening for all children entering Kindergarten.  Vision and hearing screenings will also be available for all children birth through 5 years of age.

Appointments may be scheduled by calling Joppa Maple Grove Elementary School at 543-7434, Ext. 1201.  No walk-ins will be accepted; appointments only.

A team of professional early childhood educators will be present to assist both parent and child through the screening process.  This is a collaborative effort among Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Speech Therapist staff.  The screening consists of game-like activities to assess development in the areas of cognitive, speech/language, and fine and gross motor skills.  The screening process usually takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.

Joppa Maple Grove Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten staff will be available to provide information about the respective school programs.  A letter will be mailed following the screening process notifying you if your child is selected for the program and will list the items required for enrollment.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call Maple Grove Elementary School at 618-543-7434 Ext. 1201 or 618-543-6205.
