As a paraprofessional, you'll support teachers and students in the classroom, help foster a positive learning environment, and play a vital role in students' academic and personal growth. Requirements are listed below for the Short-Term Approval for Paraprofessional and the Paraprofessional License:
Short-Term Approval for Paraprofessionals (application is only available until June 30, 2025)
Requirements:
High school diploma (or equivalent), or higher
At least 19 years of age to serve students in Pre-Kindergarten -Age 22
While working on the approval, the individual must be fulfilling requirements for the full license
Valid for 3 years
Not able to be renewed
Paraprofessional license
Requirements:
At least
18 years old to serve students in grades Pre-Kindergarten -8th grade
At least 19 years of age to serve students in grades Pre-Kindergarten -age 22
Valid for 5 years
May be renewed
One of the following
is
required
:
Associate’s degree or higher
60 semester hours of coursework 100-level or higher from a regionally accredited college or university
High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro
High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Workkeys
:
Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (with a score of 4)
Reading for information/Workplace Documents (with a score of 4)
